Unit Converter
Convert between hundreds of units across categories: length, weight, temperature, volume, area, speed, time, and digital storage. Instant results with conversion tables.
How to Use the Unit Converter
Select a category from the buttons at the top — Length, Weight, Temperature, Volume, Area, Speed, Time, Digital Storage, Energy, Pressure, or Fuel Economy. The unit dropdowns will automatically populate with the available units in that category. Choose your source unit in the From dropdown, enter the value you want to convert, and select the destination unit in the To dropdown. The result appears immediately.
Click the swap button (⇄) between the two panels to reverse the conversion — swapping the From and To units so you can quickly convert back. This is especially useful when you know the result but need to find the original value, such as converting kilometers back to miles after already converting miles to kilometers.
The result is displayed with up to 7 significant figures, giving you a precise answer without unnecessary decimal noise. A summary line below the converter confirms the full conversion formula so you can double-check the result.
Unit Conversion Reference
The converter covers eleven categories of physical measurement:
- Length: kilometers, meters, centimeters, millimeters, miles, yards, feet, inches, nautical miles, and fathoms. Essential for travel, engineering, and everyday measurements.
- Weight & Mass: kilograms, pounds, grams, ounces, stones, metric tons, carats, and more. Used in cooking, shipping, fitness, and science.
- Temperature: Celsius, Fahrenheit, and Kelvin. Temperature uses formulas rather than simple multiplication — the converter handles all three correctly.
- Volume: liters, gallons, milliliters, fluid ounces, cups, tablespoons, pints, quarts, and cubic units. Useful for cooking, chemistry, and fuel calculations.
- Area: square meters, square feet, hectares, acres, square kilometers, square miles, and square inches. Important for real estate, agriculture, and mapping.
- Speed: km/h, mph, m/s, knots, ft/s, and mach. Used in driving, aviation, sailing, and physics.
- Time: nanoseconds to centuries — seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, and more. Useful for project planning and scheduling calculations.
- Digital Storage: bits, bytes, kilobytes, megabytes, gigabytes, terabytes, petabytes, and binary units (MiB, GiB). Essential for understanding file sizes, storage capacity, and network speeds.
- Energy: joules, calories, kilocalories, kilowatt-hours, BTUs, watt-hours, and electronvolts. Used in physics, nutrition, and electricity billing.
- Pressure: pascals, bar, psi, atmospheres, mmHg, and torr. Important for weather, engineering, and tire pressure.
- Fuel Economy: km/L, L/100km, mpg (US), and mpg (UK). Essential for comparing vehicle fuel efficiency across different measurement systems.
